The upcoming BCIC tournament promises to be a transformative event, blending sportsmanship, education, and empowerment in a way that honors the legacy and excellence of HBCUs.
A Historic Event for HBCUs
From March 20-23, 2025, Charlotte, NC, will host the BCIC at the iconic Bojangles Coliseum, bringing together top basketball teams from the 4 power HBCU conferences. This four-day tournament is more than a showcase of athletic prowess—it’s a celebration of HBCU culture, tradition, and community impact.
As a testament to their mission, the BCIC is donating $10,000 to each participating university, directly supporting these institutions and their student-athletes. This generous initiative highlights BCIC’s dedication to uplifting HBCUs and fostering opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
Empowering the Community
BCIC is committed to making a lasting impact beyond the basketball court. The tournament will feature two Education Days on Thursday and Friday, offering programs designed to expose students to career opportunities, enlistment pathways, and higher education. Attendees will have the chance to engage with industry leaders and Historically Black University representatives, empowering them to envision brighter futures.
Additionally, BCIC will host an Empowerment Luncheon with sessions led by coaches and experts on critical topics such as financial literacy, NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) opportunities, and entrepreneurship. These discussions aim to equip athletes and attendees with the tools they need for success both on and off the court.
Celebrating Culture and Education
The BCIC will also bring the community together with special events like:
- A High School Education Day, introducing students to the rich history and opportunities at HBCUs.
- A thrilling High School Battle of the Bands, showcasing the musical talent and spirit that define HBCU culture.
These events underscore BCIC’s commitment to fostering pride, education, and connection within the community.

The 2025 road to the BCIC kicks off in Columbia, SC, with the Cheers to the Championship event on January 8th at 6 PM, hosted at Concept Restaurant on Hard Scrabble Rd. This exciting gathering will set the tone for the tournament, offering meet-and-greets and informational sessions about the impact of the BCIC.
